Christina Heris
After a lengthy delay due to COVID, Christina Heris recently attended a graduation ceremony. Christina’s PhD was passed in 2019 and her project, which was supervised by Prof Sandra Eades, Prof David Thomas and Dr Cath Chamberlain, sought to understand what influences smoking initiation for young Aboriginal people and the opportunities for prevention. Congratulations Christina on this fabulous achievement!
Tabassum Rahman
Despite being affected by the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020, Tabassum completed her PhD on time in March 2022 and graduated in December 2022. Tabassum’s PhD looked at culturally appropriate ways to assist pregnant and postpartum Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in quitting tobacco smoking and staying smoke-free. Her PhD was supervised by Dr Michelle Kennedy (The University of Newcastle), Prof Amanda Baker (The University of Newcastle), and Prof Gillian Gould (Southern Cross University).
